One app instead of five

Stop flipping between the wind app, the tide table, the river gauge and the regulations page.

The best hours, with reasons

Every hour of the next 5 days gets one score for your spot (16 with Pro), and every score shows what earned it: wind, tide, current, pressure, river flow, moon.

Your limits, ruled out

Set the wind, waves, current or cold you won’t go out in. Those hours are dropped, not just scored lower.

Set up in a minute

Drop a pin, pick what you’re after and how much weather you’ll put up with. The nearest tide, current and river stations are picked for you to check.

One-tap catch log

Log a fish with one tap, even with no signal. Weather, tide, current and moon are recorded with it automatically. Works from a phone button or shortcut too.

Learn what works for you

Your trips turn into catch rates by tide, wind, pressure and time of day. Ask your logbook questions and get scoring suggestions for your spots.

Rule changes and a morning email

Washington and Oregon emergency rule changes show on the spot they apply to. A morning email lists your best windows coming up.

Your logbook, doing the math

Most fishing logs are a list of fish. Here every hour you were out is recorded with its conditions, including the hours nothing bit. So you see fish per hour by tide, wind and light, not just where you got lucky.

  • ✓ One tap to log, offline included. Species, length and weight later if you want.
  • ✓ Conditions filled in for you: weather, pressure trend, tide, current, moon.
  • ✓ A season summary and answers to questions about your own trips.
  • ✓ Suggestions to tune your spots’ scoring, applied with one click.

Why one score per hour?

A good day out depends on wind, tide, current, rain, light and, for rivers, flow, all at once. Next Best Outdoors combines hourly weather and marine forecasts with NOAA tide and current predictions and USGS and Army Corps gauges, weighs them the way you set for each spot, and turns the result into a single score for every hour, so the "Goldilocks" hours stand out.

Built for the Pacific Northwest, works anywhere in the US

Forecasts, tides, currents and gauges cover the US. Washington and Oregon spots also get the state agencies’ rule-change notices, and Columbia River spots can show a currents and temperature model from the bar to Bonneville Dam.
